Q: Are Priime essential oil blends safe for use during pregnancy?

A: Pregnant or lactating women should always consult with their doctor or primary care adviser before using essential oils or essential oil blends. Experts recommend that all essential oils be avoided during the first trimester and only those approved by your primary health care adviser be used during the second and third trimesters.

Q: Which essential oils are considered safe for use during the second and third trimesters?

A: Experts generally agree that the following essential oils—all of which are included in Priime essential oil blends—are safe for the later stages of pregnancy when the baby is more fully developed:
• Bergamot
• Roman Chamomile
• Eucalyptus
• Geranium Rose
• Pink Grapefruit
• Lavender
• Lemon
• Melissa Leaf
• Neroli
• Patchouli
• Damask Rose
• Orange
• Tea Tree

Q: Which essential oil blends should be avoided during pregnancy or when lactating?

A: Do not use Ice or Sentry blends throughout pregnancy and nursing. They contain the powerful oils wintergreen, white camphor, and cinnamon, which are not recommended for use during pregnancy or lactation.

Q: Should I use the essential oil blends at full strength?

A: All essential oils and oil blends should be diluted for use during pregnancy or lactation. It is advised to use 10 percent or less of Calm and Escape blends by mixing 1 part essential oil blend with 9 parts Fractionated Coconut Oil.

Q: Is Fractionated Coconut Oil (MCT) approved for use during pregnancy or lactation?

A: While not enough studies have been done to definitively determine the effect of Fractionated Coconut Oil (MTC) during pregnancy or nursing, several studies have suggested that MTC supports the production of lauric and capric acid in breast milk which provides nutritional benefits and microbial protection to the nursing infant. As always, please check with your primary health care advisor before using Fractionated Coconut Oil during pregnancy or while lactating.
